Medical research is, together with patient care, the most important goal of the University Hospital. The IDSC is the hub to connect our own researcher with national and international research initiatives, and it fulfils the requirements of the Swiss Personal Health Networks or the Swiss National Science Foundation.

The IDSC's services for researchers consist of effectual tools for cohort exploration and data de-identification. Powerful analytic and machine learning tools allow the researchers to gain insights and to develop new algorithms. Cluster computing power with GPU support and scalable storage are available to researchers and the proximity to the clinics facilitates translational research.
